The dot-matrix LCD displays real-time torque, valve position, and alarm messages in clear language. You get dual-seal construction that keeps IP68 protection even during field wiring. The planetary gear transmission improves efficiency by 30% over worm-gear types and runs maintenance-free with lifetime lubrication. You can operate the handwheel and motor simultaneously – no clutch to break. The multi-turn intelligent actuator automatically corrects phase sequence, protects against phase loss, and includes motor thermostats. For modulating duty, the BDM-IIC version uses solid-state relays and achieves 1200 starts per hour with 50% duty cycle. You also have absolute encoding position sensing that never forgets the valve position – no batteries required.

Can I use this IP68 explosion-proof actuator with a Profibus-DP network?
Yes. Our factory integrates a Profibus-DPV0 or DPV1 card (single or redundant). You also have Modbus (half-duplex or full-duplex, redundant optional), DeviceNet, FF, and Hart. Specify the bus type when ordering.
IP68 Explosion-proof Actuator Features
Our factory designed the BD/BDM10-IIC IP68 explosion-proof multi-turn intelligent actuator with user-configurable outputs.

You have four S-type bistable contacts (S1-S4) and optional R-type monostable contacts (R1-R4). Each contact can represent any valve state: closed limit, open limit, closing torque trip, opening torque trip, general torque trip, closing motion, opening motion, running, or an intermediate position.

You choose whether the contact closes or opens for that state. The actuator also includes a dedicated MONI alarm relay that activates for phase loss, motor overheat, simultaneous open/close signals, analog signal loss, ESD active, setup mode, or internal fault. The remote position contact (terminals 15-16) indicates when the selector switch is in “remote” position. For analog control, you input 4-20mA (terminals 27-28) and output 4-20mA (terminals 13-14) for valve position feedback.
The IP68 explosion-proof multi-turn intelligent actuator supports two-wire control – you set it for “signal open, no-signal close” or “signal close, no-signal open”. The ESD function (terminal 12) can be configured for high or low active, and you choose the override behavior. The infrared setting tool allows you to adjust all parameters from outside the sealed enclosure. You also get automatic phase correction, instantaneous reverse delay, and power phase-loss protection.
The mechanical design uses a first-stage gear plus second-stage planetary train – this combination provides high efficiency and low wear. The motor has a built-in thermostat. The position sensor uses multi-turn absolute encoding technology (patented BM18) that never requires battery backup. The torque sensor uses absolute encoding as well, giving you real-time torque display and settable trip points from 30% to 100%.
Model and Type
The BD-IIC series IP68 explosion-proof multi-turn intelligent actuator is available in three duty classes: on-off type, intermittent modulating type, and frequent modulating type.

The BD-IIC on-off type IP68 explosion-proof actuator does not have proportional control functionality. It is suitable for applications with a operating frequency not exceeding 60 starts per hour, a continuous running time not exceeding 15 minutes, and a duty cycle not exceeding 33.3%.

The BD-IIC intermittent modulating type IP68 explosion-proof actuator has proportional control functionality. It is suitable for applications with an operating frequency not exceeding 60 starts per hour (for three-phase models, the short-time operating frequency can reach 600 starts per hour), a continuous running time not exceeding 15 minutes, and a duty cycle not exceeding 33.3%.
The BDM-IIC frequent modulating type IP68 explosion-proof actuator uses a motor designed for frequent starts/stops. Its motor control drive unit employs solid-state relays with no switching contacts. By utilizing higher-speed and higher-precision control chips and components, along with further optimized programs and control circuits, it achieves an operating frequency of up to 1200 starts per hour (600 starts per hour for single-phase) under rated modulating torque, with a duty cycle of up to 50%.
The BDM-IIC frequent modulating type actuator offers higher positioning accuracy than the BD-IIC on-off type and intermittent modulating type actuators. It fully meets the requirements for closed-loop automatic control loop actuation units in most industrial fields.
