Description

Explosion-proof Part-turn Actuator Overview

The explosion-proof part-turn actuator from Bonray’s BJ/BJM250-IIC series represents a major advancement in intelligent valve control for hazardous environments. Our factory designed this actuator to deliver non-intrusive, high-reliability operation in explosive gas and dust zones, including IIA, IIB, IIC T1–T4 gas environments and IIIA, IIIB, IIIC T130°C dust environments. You can use this device to automate butterfly valves, ball valves, plug valves, and dampers with absolute positioning accuracy.

At our ISO-certified plant, we integrated a patented planetary gear transmission that replaces traditional worm-wheel mechanisms. This design raises mechanical efficiency by more than 50%, eliminates hand/auto switching failures, and provides excellent self-locking capability. The actuator also features a unique dual-seal enclosure that reaches IP68 protection (submersion at 2 meters for 48 hours). Whether you work in oil refineries, chemical plants, marine vessels, or water treatment facilities, our explosion-proof part-turn actuator ensures safe, continuous operation.

Explosion-proof Part-turn Actuator Features

  • Non-intrusive full English menu – You can commission the actuator without opening the electrical cover. Magnetic knobs and Hall sensors enable safe adjustment in hazardous areas.

  • Absolute encoding position sensor (BM12) – This patented, non-contact sensor retains valve position after power loss without batteries. It never requires re-zeroing.

    Torque Testing
    Torque Testing
  • Absolute encoding torque sensor – Our factory directly measures output torque in real time. You can set torque protection values from 30% to 100% via the on-site menu.

  • Simultaneous manual and electric operation – No clutch mechanism means zero switchover failure. You can manually override at any time.

  • Dual-seal terminal box – The terminal compartment remains sealed even when you remove the cover for wiring, preventing dust and moisture ingress.

  • Multiple control modes – Use local (jog/held), remote switch (dry contact or voltage), remote analog (4–20mA), ESD (high/low active), bus communication (Profibus-DP, Modbus, DeviceNet, FF, Hart), two-wire control, or intermittent duty.

  • Comprehensive protection – The actuator includes phase adjustment, phase loss protection, instant reverse delay, motor thermal protection, torque overload cut-off, and valve jam clearing logic.

  • Stable output contacts – Four field-configurable bistable relays retain their state even during power failure.

The series divides into three operational categories based on duty cycle and control precision:

  1. BJ-IIC Switch Type – No proportional control. Suitable for up to 60 starts/hour, 10 minutes continuous running, 33.3% duty cycle.

  2. BJ-IIC Intermittent Regulating Type – With proportional control. Frequency up to 60 starts/hour (600 for three-phase models). Duty cycle 33.3%.

  3. BJM-IIC Frequent Regulating Type – Uses solid-state relays and high-speed control chips. Frequency up to 1200 starts/hour (600 for single-phase). Duty cycle 50%. Provides higher positioning accuracy for closed-loop control.
