Description

Overview

The multi-turn electric intelligent actuator, the BD30-IIC series, is what every plant manager looks for—equipment that reduces maintenance costs and improves safety. Our factory’s model delivers both through innovative design. This multi-turn intelligent electric actuator requires no scheduled lubrication – the planetary gearbox comes filled with premium synthetic grease for life. The non-intrusive magnetic controls eliminate shaft seals that could leak.

Dual-sealed structure
Dual-sealed structure

The absolute encoding position sensor and torque sensor never need calibration or battery replacement. The actuator’s dual-seal IP68 enclosure (2m water, 48h) keeps out dust and moisture, so you avoid corrosion-related failures. For hazardous areas, our factory offers explosion-proof versions (Ex db IIC T4 Gb for gas, Ex tb IIIC T130℃ Db for dust). The manual handwheel works simultaneously with the motor – no clutch to maintain. The automatic phase correction and phase loss protection prevent motor burnouts. The motor has embedded thermostats that shut it down before overheating.

The actuator also features valve unseating logic: it temporarily disables torque protection to break stuck valves without tripping. You get real-time torque display and settable torque trip points. The multi-turn intelligent actuator supports local, remote, analog, bus, ESD, and two-wire control. The LCD shows alarms in plain text. The bistable output contacts retain state after power loss. In short, this actuator runs for years with minimal intervention.

How often should I inspect the multi-turn electric intelligent actuator?

Our factory recommends a visual inspection every 6 months for signs of damage or leakage. You should also verify the torque trip point annually by performing a stall test (consult manual for procedure). For explosion-proof installations, follow local regulations (e.g., GB/T3836.16) for periodic checks.

Features

Safety and low maintenance start with the mechanical design. Our factory eliminates the traditional worm gear (which wears and requires adjustment) and instead uses a planetary gear system. The gears are case-hardened and ground, then assembled with high-grade synthetic grease. You never need to open the gearbox. The non-intrusive magnetic knobs and infrared port mean you configure the actuator without breaking the enclosure seal. The dual-seal terminal compartment allows wiring without exposing the main control board to contamination. The absolute encoding position sensor uses no batteries, so you never have to replace a dead battery that could cause valve position loss.

The absolute encoding torque sensor directly measures strain – no potentiometers to wear out. The motor has Class F insulation (155°C) and an embedded PTC thermostat that cuts power at 140°C. The automatic phase correction prevents wrong-direction operation. The phase loss detection stops the motor before it overheats from single-phasing. The instantaneous reverse protection adds a 0.2-0.3 second delay to prevent mechanical shock. The valve unseating routine provides extra torque for 5-8 seconds when opening from closed – this reduces nuisance torque trips on stuck valves.

The ESD function overrides all commands and can be set to “close” for fail-safe applications. The two-wire control option simplifies emergency shutdown wiring. The bistable contacts (S1-S4) retain their state during power loss, so your DCS knows the valve position even after an outage. The LCD shows clear alarm messages – no need to decode blinking LEDs. The enclosure meets IP68, so you can hose down the actuator or install it in a flood-prone area. The explosion-proof models include flame paths that cool escaping gases, preventing ignition.

Model and Type

The multi-turn electric intelligent actuator comes in three lifecycle-based duty classes. Choose BD30-IIC on-off for basic service (60 starts/hour, 15 min runtime, 33.3% duty). Choose BD30-IIC intermittent modulating if you need 4-20mA control but still low duty.
