Description
Multi Turn Explosion-proof Actuator Overview
The multi turn explosion-proof electric actuator has evolved from a simple motorized device to a sophisticated data node in modern process control. The BD/BDM-C8 series from Suzhou Bonray embodies this evolution. We engineered it to be more than just a motor; it’s a smart, communicative device that provides critical insights into your valve’s operation. Our manufacturing philosophy at the Suzhou Bonray facility centers on creating intelligent devices that simplify your work. This multi-turn electric actuator features a non-intrusive design, allowing you to configure, diagnose, and query data through an intuitive interface without ever opening the electrical enclosure. This not only speeds up commissioning but also maintains the high IP68 protection against environmental ingress, a key requirement for reliable operation in the field.
How does the “Non-Intrusive” design of Multi Turn Explosion-proof Actuator benefit?
The non-intrusive design eliminates the need to open the electrical housing for setup. You use a magnetic knob or an infrared setting tool to navigate the dot-matrix LCD menu. This Suzhou Bonray design prevents dust, moisture, and corrosive gases from ever entering the control compartment, drastically increasing the reliability of your multi-turn electric actuator.

Multi Turn Explosion-proof Actuator Features
We equipped this multi-turn electric actuator with advanced features that go beyond basic control. The high-resolution dot matrix display shows valve position in large numbers and provides real-time, continuous torque measurement. You can view the current torque on the screen and set torque protection levels (from 30% to 100%) via the menu, giving you proactive control over valve wear.
For enhanced connectivity, we offer a Bluetooth interface. This optional feature allows you to connect your smartphone or other wireless devices directly to the multi-turn electric actuator. Through our dedicated app, you can perform parameter settings, command local control, and download operational data for in-depth analysis. This makes commissioning in the field quicker and simplifies the process of gathering performance data for predictive maintenance schedules, a modern capability driven by Bonray’s forward-thinking engineering.

Protect Function
The protective functions in the BD/BDM100-C8 series are proactive, not just reactive. While the standard suite of protections (over-torque, over-current, phase loss, motor thermal) safeguards against immediate damage, the multi-turn electric actuator also helps prevent future issues. The continuous torque monitoring feature allows you to set alerts, so you can detect valve seat wear or process changes before they cause a failure. The auto-phase adjustment eliminates the risk of mis-wiring, a common cause of motor damage. The integrated electrical isolation on all input/output channels ensures the actuator operates reliably without interference from other plant equipment. Our factory at Suzhou Bonray ensures that each unit undergoes rigorous testing of these protective circuits before it leaves the assembly line.
Control Type
The BD/BDM100-C8 series is a versatile multi-turn electric actuator when it comes to control integration. We designed the standard model to handle conventional control methods: local control, remote switch control (with both maintained and momentary options), and remote analog control (4-20mA) for modulation. But we also prepared it for the digital future. The actuator accepts optional fieldbus cards, turning it into a fully addressable network device. You can select from Profibus-DP (V0, V1, V2, with redundant options), Modbus (half-duplex, full-duplex, redundant), DeviceNet, Foundation Fieldbus, and HART. With the fieldbus option, this multi-turn electric actuator becomes a node that provides not just control but also diagnostic data and parameter feedback directly to your distributed control system (DCS). Our team at Suzhou Bonray provides the necessary GSD, DTM, and EDD files for seamless integration with any system.

Model and Type
We designed three core types of the BD/BDM100-C8 series to align with your control and duty requirements. First, the BD-C8 On-Off Type provides the core intelligence for basic open/close applications. It includes all the data logging, non-intrusive setup, and absolute position feedback features, making it a smart choice for simple on-off duty. Next, the BD-C8 Intermittent Modulating Type adds the intelligence of analog control, allowing it to serve as a key component in simple control loops.
Finally, the BDM-C8 Frequent Modulating Type represents the highest level of intelligent control for a multi-turn electric actuator. With its solid-state relays and high-speed processor, it can handle up to 1200 starts per hour. Its superior positioning accuracy makes it ideal for demanding processes requiring precise control. In summary, no matter which type you choose, you get the same robust construction, absolute encoder, and non-intrusive interface, thanks to Suzhou Bonray’s consistent design standards.
