Description

Overview

The quarter-turn intelligent electric actuator BJ/BJM200-IIC series from Bonray’s advanced manufacturing facility delivers precise, reliable valve control for industrial processes. Our factory engineers this actuator with a patented planetary gear transmission, eliminating the inefficient worm-gear design and raising mechanical efficiency by over 50%. You get a compact, self-locking unit that handles output torque from 50 N.m to 3000 N.m and angular travel of 0–90° (or other angles on request). We designed this actuator for butterfly valves, ball valves, plug valves, and dampers in power plants, oil refineries, chemical complexes, marine systems, water treatment, and paper mills.

The non-intrusive magnetic controls allow you to configure all parameters without opening the electrical cover, preserving IP68 protection. Our factory integrates absolute encoding position and torque sensors, so you never need battery backup or manual recalibration. Whether you need on-off, intermittent modulating, or frequent modulating duty, this quarter-turn intelligent electric actuator provides a future-proof solution. We also offer explosion-proof versions (Ex db IIC T4 Gb for gas, Ex tb IIIC T130°C Db for dust) and a split-body variant (IICF) for high-temperature or high-vibration environments. Our factory tests every unit with 48-hour submersion at 2 meters and full torque calibration before shipping.

Does the actuator lose valve position when power goes off?

Never. Our factory installs a BM12 single-turn absolute encoder position sensor. This non-contact device retains the exact valve position permanently, without batteries. You never recalibrate after a power outage. The actuator also uses an absolute encoding torque sensor that directly measures output torque, unaffected by voltage or temperature changes.

Features

Our quarter-turn intelligent electric actuator incorporates engineering innovations that reduce downtime and simplify maintenance.

1. Patented Planetary Gear Transmission

We designed a two-stage gear plus two-stage planetary system. This provides over 50% higher mechanical efficiency than worm-gear designs. The gears use structural steel, so wear decreases significantly. Because we eliminated the manual/electric shift mechanism, you no longer face broken shift forks or stuck levers. The gear train is self-locking at any speed, preventing reverse driving when power disconnects.

Non-Intrusive design

2. Non-Intrusive Magnetic Control

You operate the actuator via a rotary knob or infrared setter. Hall-effect sensors inside the sealed housing detect magnetic fields. No shafts penetrate the case, so moisture cannot enter. Our factory uses a double-sealed terminal box: even when you remove the outer cover for wiring, an inner seal protects the main electronics. This achieves true IP68 (2 meters for 48 hours).

3. Absolute Encoder Position Sensor (BM12)

This patented non-contact sensor reads absolute angular position. It requires no battery backup, no potentiometer, and no limit switches. The valve position remains correct after years of service or months of power-down. Our factory performs a 48-hour burn-in test to verify position retention.

4. Direct Torque Measurement with Absolute Encoding

Unlike current-based torque estimation, we directly measure strain on the output shaft. The LCD shows real torque in N.m. You set independent torque cutoffs for open and close directions. The sensor ignores ambient temperature and voltage fluctuations, making it ideal for outdoor or unstable power supplies.

5. Dual-Seal Enclosure & IP68 Protection

Static joints use O-rings; dynamic joints use skeleton oil seals. The terminal box has a double-seal structure: an inner seal stays closed even when you open the outer cover for wiring. Our factory submerges every waterproof unit for 48 hours at 2 meters. No other actuator in this class offers such rigorous testing.

6. Self-Locking Planetary Gear

The reverse self-locking design prevents back-driving when power disconnects. You do not need an external brake. This holds butterfly valves and ball valves securely against pressure surges.

7. Multiple Control Modes

  • Local control (point or hold) via knob or IR.

  • Remote switch (dry contact or voltage) with point or hold.

  • Remote analog (4-20 mA) for automatic positioning.

  • ESD (emergency shutdown) with configurable active high/low and override options.

  • Two-wire control (signal-on-open, signal-on-close).

  • Intermittent/pulse control to prevent hydraulic hammer.

  • Fieldbus (Profibus, Modbus, DeviceNet, FF, Hart, etc.) via plug-in modules.

8. Comprehensive Protection Suite

  • Phase sequence auto-correction (no need to swap wires).

  • Phase loss protection (stops motor instantly).

  • Instant reverse delay (200 ms, prevents mechanical shock).

  • Motor thermal protection (thermostat embedded in windings).

  • Torque overload (adjustable).

  • Valve stuck release logic: temporarily disables torque trip for 0.2–0.3s on any start, and 5–8s when opening from closed position to break free stuck valves.

9. Dual-Stable Output Contacts

Four configurable magnetic-latching relays retain their state even after power loss. You map them to: closed limit, open limit, closing torque trip, opening torque trip, moving, mid-position, etc. This eliminates the need for auxiliary relays in safety loops.

10. Factory-Installed Options

  • Explosion-proof enclosure (gas/dust).

  • Split version (BJM-IICF): separate controller for high-temperature or high-vibration areas (10m cable standard, longer on request).

  • Extended temperature range (-40°C to +70°C).

  • Special voltages: 110V, 115V, 208V, 230V, 240V, 415V, 50/60Hz.

  • Feedback with 4-20 mA output (load ≤750Ω).

  • Additional non-latching relays (R1–R4).

Model and Type

Our quarter-turn intelligent electric actuator comes in three duty classifications and two series (BJ and BJM). Each model follows a structured code.

1. BJ Series – On-Off & Intermittent Modulating

  • Suitable for ≤60 starts/hour, 33.3% duty cycle, max 10 min continuous run.

  • Uses electromechanical contactors (standard).

  • Sub-types based on power: BJxxx-IIC (24 Vdc), BJxxx-IIC (single-phase 110/220 Vac), BJxxx-IIC (three-phase 380 Vac).

2. BJM Series – Frequent Modulating

  • Achieves 1200 starts/hour (three-phase) / 600 starts/hour (single-phase) at 50% duty cycle.

  • Uses solid-state relays and a special high-frequency motor.

  • Provides higher positioning accuracy (±0.5% of span).

  • Ideal for continuous process control (flow, pressure, level).

4. Flange Options (ISO5211:2017)

F05, F07, F10, F12, F14, F16. Our factory can machine custom drive sleeves and keyways to match your valve stem (specify when ordering).

5. Split Version (BJM-IICF)

We mount the control electronics in a separate IP68 controller (see factory drawing Figure 5-5). The actuator body remains on the valve. Standard cable length 10 m. This suits ambient temperatures above 70°C or high vibration areas (e.g., engine room, kiln inlet).
